What’s BCCLS?

BCCLS logo

BCCLS is pronounced “BUCKLES” which stands for Bergen County Cooperative Library System. Founded in 1979 the consortium has expanded to include more than 75 public libraries in Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Bergen counties. BCCLS libraries have more than 600,000 registered cardholders and circulate more than 12 million items annually.

How Bergenfield Library Cardholders Benefit From BCCLS

Reciprocal Borrowing With your Bergenfield Library card you can borrow books, audio books, periodicals, music CDs, DVDs and more from 75+ member libraries. If the Bergenfield Library doesn’t have the item you are looking for, place an electronic request and the item will be delivered to your home library, or BCCLS member library of your choosing. You may return items to any BCCLS library.

Access to New Resources There’s power in numbers! As a member of BCCLS, we’re able to offer Bergenfield patrons access to great resources like eBCCLS, free, downloadable ebooks for borrowing. Started in March 2012, eBCCLS serves only the member libraries of BCCLS, so patrons have benefited from shorter wait times for popular ebooks. And thanks to professional development seminars and programs from BCCLS, our staff is able to learn the latest on ebooks and provide eBook Appointments, personalized instruction on how to find, reserve and download ebooks from eBCCLS.

Greater Efficiency and Savings BCCLS is a pioneer of library resource sharing in New Jersey. Centralized cataloging, tech support and the collective purchase of database subscriptions is the means to providing high-quality, economical service to our patrons.
