The Fall semester begins the week of September 12th. You must register here to take classes. We will contact you after you submit your form.

Are classes in-person?
Classes can be in-person or on Zoom. You can tell us your preference on the registration form.
Do I have to live in Bergenfield to take ESL classes at the Bergenfield Library?
You don’t have to live in Bergenfield but you need a Bergenfield Library card. You must be at least 18 years old. Call the library at 201-387-4040 to find out how to get a library card.
How much does the program cost?
Classes are free but there is a materials fee:
Bergenfield residents $10
Non-residents in a town with no ESL program $25
Non-residents in a town with an ESL program $45
What class will I be in?
We offer one-on-one classes as well as small group classes and conversation classes. If you are interested in one-on-one classes, we will match you with the right tutor based upon your level and availability. Space may be limited.
What is a conversation class?
A conversation class is a place where you can practice speaking English in an informal group setting. You will meet new people and learn together. Please contact the ESL department if you are interested.
