
How old do I have to be to use the YA Room?
The YA Room is for teens, grades 6 and up!
What are the rules of conduct in the YA Room?
The YA Room is a comfortable area for teens to gather for homework and after school activities. The most important rule is respect for each other, Library staff and other patrons.
Can I store my belongings and personal stuff in the YA Room?
No. Teens need to keep their personal belongings and valuables with them at all times. Whether you leave the YA Room to use the rest room, or search for an item in another area, bring all personal belongings with you!
How do I get a Library card?
Cards are free to all Bergenfield residents and may be used at all BCCLS libraries. The only thing you need is a parent or guardian with a valid form of ID (driver’s license or two forms of secondary ID, phone/electric bill, lease, etc…) Please go to the Children’s Room Desk to create a card.

How long can I take out a book?
Young adult fiction books that are new have a checkout period of 14 days. All other YA titles may be checked out for 28 days. The Return Book Drop is open 24 hours a day, every day. Library materials may be renewed unless on reserve for other patrons. A fine of 25 cents per day, per item is charged for every library day the item is overdue.
May I use the computer?
Teens may use one of our three YA Room computers if they are in grades 6 and up and follow a few simple rules:
• Each teen must have a signed parental consent form and a valid Children’s Library card
• Sign up for computer time at the Computer Reservation Station
• On regular school days with the exception of school holidays, it’s HOMEWORK ONLY!
What if I need to print something out?
The YA Room has one color printer. Printing costs 25 cents; please pay for printing at the Librarian’s Desk in the YA Room.
Are there any volunteer opportunities for teens?
Currently, we are not accepting volunteers.
